Although we had hoped to reschedule our workshops for later in the year, it has sadly become apparent that some form of social distancing and / or lockdown is likely to remain in place for the foreseeable future or at least until a vaccine for COVID-19 is developed. Therefore, we have reluctantly decided that rescheduling our ‘in-person’ workshops is not an option at this time.

However, with the support of our funding body, Arts Council England, we are thrilled to be able to announce that we’re moving our workshops online. Follow this link for further information and instructions on how to book.

All of our writing for wellbeing workshops (London, Birmingham, Manchester & Brighton) have now been cancelled. If you were booked onto one of these workshops you will receive a full refund via Eventbrite. Once we have a clearer picture about whether we can reschedule these workshops later in the year, we will contact everybody who was booked on one of the cancelled workshops with an update.

Please stay safe and be kind to yourselves during this very difficult time.

It probably won’t be a surprise to you that sadly we now have no choice other than to cancel our London (21 March) and Birmingham (18 April) workshops, following the updated Coronavirus / COVID-19 advice issued by the UK government on 16 March 2020. We’re gutted but are in discussions with our funding body and hope to be able to reschedule for a future time. Full refunds are being issued.

Our Manchester & Brighton workshops are under review. We think it’s unlikely that they will take place but we’re just holding fire on cancelling to make sure the current government advice doesn’t change again. If you’re booked onto Manchester or Brighton please keep an eye out for an update email from us.

Please stay safe and take care of yourselves.

As of 4.30pm on Saturday 14th March 2020, we can advise that our current plan, having reviewed all the official guidance, is to go ahead with our workshop scheduled to take place on Saturday 21 March 2020 in London. Please see below for the message which has been sent to all those who have registered for this workshop for further details. If you have booked onto one of our other workshops (Birmingham on 18 April, Manchester on 2 May or Brighton on 23 May) we will be in touch nearer the time when the situation is clearer to update you.

A Message from Words That Heart: (14 March 2020)

Dear (London) Workshop Participant

Thank you so much for registering for our Words That Heart writing for wellbeing workshop for childless-not-by-choice people on Saturday, 21 March in London.

We’re writing to update you on our plans in relation to the COVID-19 / coronavirus situation. We’ve reviewed the current advice from Public Health England and decided that we will be going ahead with next Saturday’s workshop as scheduled.

If the situation changes – for example our venue decides to close or one of us is ill/self-isolating, or the official advice changes – then obviously we will have no option but to cancel the workshop. If this happens, we will let you know as soon as possible and, of course, we will provide a full refund of the ticket price.

As much as we hope the workshop will be able to go ahead, we also understand that some of you may have personal circumstances, such as being in a group particularly vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19, that mean you might decide the safest course of action is not to attend. If this applies to you, we would be grateful if you could let us know as soon as possible. We need a minimum number of people to attend for the workshop to run smoothly, so it’s helpful for us to know if you’re not able to attend so we can consider the best way forward.

As much as we would love to see you, please don’t attend the workshop if you are feeling unwell or if you have developed any coronavirus symptoms (fever or continuous cough) however mild in the 7 days prior to the workshop.

Our standard cancellation terms are no refunds (due to the workshop being heavily subsidised) but if you need to cancel due to reasons related to COVID-19 / coronavirus and inform us in advance, we will of course waive this policy and provide you with a full refund.

If the worst happens and we do have to cancel, we’re currently in discussion with our funding body in the hope that we would be able to re-schedule the workshop for later in the year.

In the meantime, we’re keeping everything crossed and hoping that we get to meet you next Saturday (we won’t be shaking hands, but we will be bringing hand gel, tissues and individually wrapped treats ). If anything changes before next Saturday, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.

With warmest wishes

Annie & Meriel
